Focara CoinView 7" Coin Microscope

Overview

Coin work fails on ordinary microscopes because the field of view is too small — you end up chasing a quarter across the stage a slice at a time. The CoinView 7 uses a wide-angle optical path sized so a full large-dollar coin fits the screen at low power, which is the view you want for overall condition, toning and placement of varieties. Zoom in for mint marks, repunched dates and die cracks. Important honesty note: a microscope helps you see and document a coin; it cannot authenticate a coin or assign an official grade — that remains the job of grading services and experienced specialists. HDMI mirrors everything to a bigger screen for buying-club sessions and careful comparisons.

Key benefits

• Built-in screen — 7-inch LCD. Start viewing immediately, with no computer, phone or app to set up first.
• Image capture — 1080p Full HD photo and video. Save stills and video for records, teaching, listings or customer documentation.
• Working distance — Approx. 0.4–5.5 in (10–140 mm). The clearance under the lens decides whether hands and tools fit — this model publishes the figure.
• Focus — Manual focus with fine height adjustment.
• Lighting — Adjustable side and ring LEDs to control glare on metal.

Technical specifications

Magnification, explained honestly

For this model the published figure is: 10x–1300x (optical working range with digital zoom; digital zoom does not add resolution).

Two different things get called “magnification”. Optical magnification is produced by the lens system and carries real detail. Digital zoom enlarges the captured image on screen — the picture gets bigger, but no new detail appears, because the sensor captured a fixed amount of information. Focara publishes the derivation with every figure; where a headline number mixes the two, the optical range is the one to compare between models.

Working distance, screen & output

The working distance is the clearance between lens and subject — the space your hands and tools actually get. Screen and output decide who can watch: a built-in LCD for one pair of eyes at the bench, HDMI for a room, USB for capture and measurement.
